Welcome to RIVR. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern all bookings made with RIVR ("RIVR", "we", "our", or "us"). By submitting a booking and making payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
1. Booking Your TripA booking is confirmed only when:
- your completed booking form has been received;
- the required deposit has been paid; and
- you have received written confirmation from RIVR.
RIVR reserves the right to decline a booking if a participant does not meet the required experience level or other participation requirements.
2. Deposit & PaymentA non-refundable deposit of
30% of the total trip price is required to secure your booking unless otherwise stated.
The remaining balance must be paid no later than
30 days before the trip departure date.
Bookings made within 30 days of departure require full payment at the time of booking.
If the balance is not received by the due date, RIVR reserves the right to cancel your booking. Any deposit paid will be forfeited.
3. PricesAll prices are listed in the currency shown on the booking page.
Trip prices include only the services specifically listed under "What's Included."
International flights, travel insurance, passport fees, visas, personal expenses, equipment (unless stated), and any services not specifically listed are not included.
4. Participant RequirementsParticipants are responsible for ensuring they meet the minimum skill and experience requirements described for each trip.
You agree to:
- provide accurate personal and emergency contact information;
- disclose any medical conditions that may affect your participation;
- follow all safety instructions provided by guides and trip leaders;
- behave respectfully toward fellow participants, staff, guides, and local communities.
RIVR reserves the right to refuse or discontinue participation if your experience level, physical condition, or behaviour presents a safety risk to yourself or others.
No refund will be provided in these circumstances.
5. EquipmentParticipants are responsible for bringing equipment suitable for the trip unless rental equipment has been arranged.
You are responsible for ensuring that all personal equipment is safe, functional, and appropriate for the activity.
6. Changes to ItineraryAdventure travel involves changing conditions.
Weather, river levels, transportation, local regulations, safety considerations, supplier availability, or other unforeseen circumstances may require changes to the itinerary, accommodation, activities, guides, or schedule.
RIVR will make every reasonable effort to provide an experience of equal quality but cannot guarantee that every advertised activity or location will be available.
Such changes do not entitle participants to a refund.
7. Cancellation by ParticipantIf you cancel your booking:
- The booking deposit is non-refundable.
- Cancellation 30–15 days before departure: 50% of the total trip price is payable.
- Cancellation within 14 days of departure or after the trip has begun: 100% of the trip price is non-refundable.
If RIVR is able to fill your place from a waiting list, we may, at our sole discretion, offer a partial refund.
8. Cancellation by RIVRRIVR reserves the right to cancel a trip due to insufficient participant numbers, unsafe conditions, natural disasters, political instability, government restrictions, supplier cancellations, or any circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
If RIVR cancels a trip before departure, participants will receive either:
- a full refund of payments made directly to RIVR; or
- the option to transfer to another available RIVR trip.
RIVR is not responsible for any costs associated with flights, accommodation, equipment rentals, visas, insurance, or other personal travel arrangements.
9. Independent SuppliersRIVR designs, coordinates, and hosts adventure travel experiences.
Many services—including accommodation, transportation, rafting, safari activities, local guiding, equipment rentals, and other travel services—are provided by independent third-party suppliers.
While RIVR carefully selects its partners, we are not responsible for the acts, omissions, negligence, or services of independent suppliers.
10. Travel InsuranceComprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all participants.
Your policy should include coverage for:
- emergency medical treatment;
- emergency evacuation;
- repatriation;
- trip cancellation and interruption;
- baggage loss or delay; and
- whitewater kayaking and other adventure activities included in your itinerary.
Proof of insurance may be requested before departure.
11. Assumption of RiskAdventure travel and whitewater kayaking involve inherent risks that cannot be eliminated.
These risks include, but are not limited to:
- changing river conditions;
- collisions with rocks or other objects;
- capsizing;
- entrapment;
- drowning;
- wildlife encounters;
- transportation accidents;
- illness;
- injury; and
- death.
By participating, you acknowledge these risks and voluntarily accept responsibility for your decision to participate.
Participants will also be required to sign a separate Participant Waiver before the trip begins.
12. Medical EmergenciesIf emergency medical treatment becomes necessary, you authorize RIVR, its guides, and local operators to obtain appropriate medical assistance on your behalf.
All associated medical, evacuation, and transportation costs remain the participant's responsibility.
13. Photography & MediaDuring RIVR trips, photographs and videos may be taken for promotional purposes.
Unless you notify us in writing before the trip begins, you grant RIVR permission to use photographs or video in which you appear for marketing, social media, and promotional materials without compensation.
14. Code of ConductParticipants are expected to:
- follow all safety instructions;
- respect guides and fellow participants;
- comply with local laws;
- avoid behaviour that places themselves or others at unnecessary risk.
RIVR reserves the right to remove any participant from a trip without refund if their behaviour compromises the safety, wellbeing, or enjoyment of the group.
15. Force MajeureRIVR shall not be liable for delays, cancellations, itinerary changes, or losses resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to floods, wildfires, drought, severe weather, pandemics, government actions, political unrest, transportation disruptions, strikes, or other force majeure events.
16. Governing LawThese Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada.
Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
17. AcceptanceBy submitting a booking and making payment, you confirm that:
- you have read these Terms & Conditions;
- you understand the nature and risks of adventure travel;
- you agree to comply with these Terms; and
- you will complete any additional waivers or documentation required before participating.
